From Bürgstadt’s coolish terroir, the 2019 Centgrafenberg Spätburgunder GG offers possibly the deepest, most intense and complete as well as generous bouquet of Fürst's 2019 Pinot trio, yet it still preserves this delicate, finessed and floral Pinot fruit that is reminiscent of dark cherries, black berries and raspberries with a touch of black cake, here combined with toasty notes. Silky, round and juicy on the palate, this is a full-bodied, very intense and concentrated yet lush and elegant Pinot with firm tannins and a tight, sustainably intense and salty finish with good mineral freshness. This is a highly promising Centgrafenberg that no Pinot lover should miss buying. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2021.$1,060.00 -

Lightish crimson. Much more inviting on the nose compared with the Klingenberg. There's red fruit and a fresh stemmy note (60% whole bunch) that adds a lovely scent to the fruit. Peppery too. Light and a little sour-fruited on the palate, delicate tannins, taut and fresh and just a baby.$140.00 -

The first note out the glass is the faint lazy drift of a curl of smoke, just enough out of reach to be nostalgic. Then hawthorn blossom, on a cold March morning, the light still milky hazy with the dregs of winter. Tight, tense as white knuckles. The fruit is so pure it is almost transparent, succulent and yet precise. It holds itself with spectacular steely power but the finish is a whisper you have to lean in close to hear. Mesmerising.$105.00 -

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line and it doesn't get any straighter than this. No detour, no distraction – linear, lime-laced perfection. The sublime and savoury core is covered in whisper-thin layers of grapefruit, lime, chamomile and peach. Control is relinquished, just for a minute, to allow in the wild, herbal lift of mint and sage. Just the right amount of power and momentum. Chalky grip and refined, grapefruit finish.$106.00 -

This super-fragrant and super-elegant pinot noir shows what greatness and beauty the very best winemakers of Germany are now achieving with this grape. The combination of concentration, finesse and and freshness is already compelling, and the wine is only just beginning to spread its wide wings. Then, when you think you understand all of this, the fine tannins gently build to a crescendo at the almost endless finish. And yet, even there, the whole seems so delicate. Drink from release.$762.00 -
