Jeb Dunnuck (93)The 2015 Château Monbrison is a smokin’ good Margaux to seek out. With a deep ruby/purple color and terrific notes of caramelized cherries, currants, bay leaf, and toasty oak, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, fine, polished tannin, plenty of freshness, and a rich, yet undeniably elegant personality. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89-92)The 2016 Monbrison is delicious. Aromatic, pliant and impeccably balanced, the wine is quite harmonious from the first taste. There is lovely depth and purity throughout. Sweet tobacco, herbs, mint and licorice add aromatic nuance to the racy red fruit. I imagine the 2016 will drink well with minimal cellaring.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)The 2019 Monbrison is classy, polished and elegant, just as it was in barrel. Crushed flowers, sweet berries, spice, mint and sweet pipe tobacco give this understated, expressive Margaux an air of finesse that is unmistakable.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92-94)The 2020 Monbrison is a beautiful wine. Savory and pungent in the glass, the 2020 exudes terrific aromatic intensity, with plenty of floral, spice, black pepper and dried herbs. The 2020 is vibrant and maybe just a bit firm, but not in an unpleasant way. Monbrison is a wine that demands the taster's attention. It certainly has mine.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (88-91)The 2021 Monbrison is a very pretty, perfumed Margaux marked by strong aromatics and fine balance, in the classic, mid-weight style of the year. Dried leaves, tobacco, blood orange, cedar and mint lend notable presence throughout.

Jeb Dunnuck (93)Smoky red and black fruits, spicy wood, tobacco, and incense notes emerge from the 2022 Château Monbrison, a classy, complete, medium to full-bodied Margaux. I love its overall balance, and it has plenty of mid-palate depth as well as polished tannins. Based on 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in barrel, give it 3-5 years and enjoy over the following 15+.
