Champagne Gonet-Medeville
About Gonet-Medeville
Hailing from a family of Champagne growers based in Le Mesnil, Xavier Gonet decided to forge his own path when his family plots were divided in the year 2000. Selecting a few plots of the highest quality 1er and Grand Cru vineyards, Xavier and his wife, Julie (whose family owns Château Gilette) began crafting their own small-batch champagnes under the label Gonet Medeville.
Despite its youth, Champagne Gonet Medeville has proven to be “a grower well worth watching” (David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate Nov 2013) and most of their champagnes have been scored at least 90 points by both Wine Advocate and Vinous. Stephan Reinhardt recently agreed that their champagnes “represent a ripe and powerful but fresh style with good ageing potential” (Wine Advocate, Sep 2018).

There's a plush creaminess to this balanced Champagne, and citrusy acidity enlivens the expressive flavors of blackberry clafoutis, lemon curd and grilled nut. Hints of spice and grated ginger play on the finish. Disgorged September 2019. Drink now through 2025. 7,000 cases made, 86 cases imported. — AN$266.00
