Ratti's 2015 Barolo Marcenasco is very pretty in its 50th anniversary. Soft, pliant and inviting, the Marcenasco captures all the best the vintage has to offer. Pretty floral and spiced notes add nuance to a core of sweet red berry fruit. Medium in body and racy, with lovely persistence, the 2015 has so much to offer. This is one of the finer recent versions of the Marcenasco I can remember tasting. The 2015 is flat out delicious. Another year or two in bottle will help the tannins soften a bit further.$117.00 -

The 2020 Barolo Marcenasco is an international classic, and I have had the fortune of following this wine over 20-plus vintages. I always like the unassuming personality of Marcenasco. It gives you character but never stretches too far in any one stylistic direction. This vintage shows some sweet oak and cinnamon, but you also get plenty of bright fruit. You could fault it for a little too much oak, which appears with more strength in 2020.$129.00 -

The 2017 feels candied in its fruit profile, compact and also showing early signs of oxidation, all which suggest it may not be long-lived. Tasted twice with similar results.$571.00 -
