(6x75cl) 2012Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)
Tropical fruits, honey, mint, lime and almonds are some of the many scents that emerge from the 2012 Monbousquet Blanc. Vinification in oak (50% new), along with stirring of the lees, gives the wine much of its overt personality and lush, oily texture. Readers should expect a flamboyant white with expressive aromatics and plenty of depth. The blend is 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Sauvignon Gris.$396.00 -

The 2019 Blanc d'Exception is laced with hints of apricot, dried almond, tangerine peel, mint, spice and light honey notes. This blend of 2/3rds Sauvignon Blanc and 1/3rd Sauvignon Gris works so well. The Blanc reveals an attractive tropical side with air, but it needs 6-12 months to soften, as there is some edginess at the moment and less of the plushness of some previous editions.$259.00 -
(12x75cl) 2008Wine Advocate (92)
This sexy, beautiful wine has the same potency (14% alcohol) as the 2010, which is surprising given the difference in alcohol strengths in these two vintages. Soft, round and opulent, this sexy 2008 reveals lots of white chocolate, espresso roast, Christmas fruitcake, black currant and cherry characteristics in its flamboyant bouquet. Round, medium to full-bodied and lush, it can be enjoyed now and over the next decade. This is a sleeper of the vintage.$965.00 -

Aromas of blackberries and meat with hints of spices. Full body, with round and juicy tannins. Lots of wood right now but loads of focused fruit too. This is structured and powerful. Needs at least five to six years to come around. Best Monbousquet ever?$2,460.00 -

A gorgeous wine, the 2010 Château Monbousquet has a perfumed, complex bouquet of ripe black fruits, white truffle, leather, and savory floral nuances. Beautifully textured, full-bodied, ripe, and concentrated, yet with a light, velvety mouthfeel, it's drinking at point, with another decade of longevity. Drink 2025-2035.$1,915.00 -

Lushly fruited, with creamy boysenberry and plum preserve flavors gliding through, this is going to be for the hedonist crowd. Extra anise and spice notes fill in, revealing steady grip through the finish.$579.00 -

Seemingly a perpetual smoking wine as well as a great value, the 2020 Château Monbousquet is no exception and has a deep, inky hue to go with pure, rich, powerful notes of smoky black fruits, chocolate, scorched earth, and subtle floral nuances. It’s a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, even tannic, yet pleasure-bent beauty I’d be thrilled to drink any time over the coming 15+ years. The blend is 70% Merlot and 15% each of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the alcohol is 14.6% with a pH of 3.75.$272.00 -

A good amount of blackberry and black olive with a medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Balanced and rather delicate.$475.00
