Domaine Hubert Lamy
About Domaine Hubert Lamy
Lamy is a historic name in Burgundy, with a vine growing history in St-Aubin stretching as far back as 1640. However, it is Olivier Lamy, the current owner and winemaker of the family estate, who put this artisanal estate on the international fine wine stage.
A diligent vigneron representing the new generation of exciting winemakers, Olivier is keen to make progress in both his vineyard and cellar. Having sharpened his craft at Méo-Camuzet before taking over the family estate in 1996, he established a very sharp acumen for identifying the best and oldest sites. Adding his natural winemaking instinct to more technical knowledge such as how to train vines flexibly, his exquisitely fine and terroir-expressive wines are celebrated by Burgundian connoisseurs the world over.

(6x75cl) 2018Vinous (86-88)
The 2018 Bourgogne Blanc Les Chatagnière comes from four parcels within the titular climat and sees just a tiny amount of new oak. The nose is a little occluded at the moment, but the palate is well balanced with a lovely texture and a hint of brioche on the finish.$382.00 -

(12x75cl) 2016Vinous (89-92)
(from redder soil over rock; 30 hectoliters per hectare produced): Pale yellow. Aromas of iodine, crushed rock and spicy oak. Chewy and densely packed but quite backward, currently dominated by wet stone and mineral notes. Finishes powerful but youthfully austere, with a repeating wet stone character. Lamy has been planting part of this vineyard at high density, but this fruit is not yet part of the wine. (Incidentally, Lamy did not make a Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macharelles in 2016 owing to the frost.)$3,845.00 -

The 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles was broody, obdurate and stubbornly closed on the nose when tasted out of barrel, but with encouragement reveals some lime leaf and even peppermint aromas. A tantalizing glimpse of what is to come? The palate is well-balanced with a taut entry and it demonstrates impressive weight, although compared to some of Olivier’s other crus in 2012, I was seeking a little more tension and complexity on the finish.$1,075.00 -
(12x75cl) 2019Vinous (89-91)
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru has a pretty nose with candied orange peel and light oily/linseed aromas. The palate is taut on the entry with good weight, bitter lemon and apricot notes. The grippy and quite phenolic finish has satisfying length. It should age well over 12-15 years.$2,185.00 -
Vinous (93)
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru comes from red clay soils planted in 1988. This is cut from a different cloth to Lamy's Saint-Aubins: chamomile, white tea and light hazelnuts, almost Meursault-like in style. The palate is tensile on the entry, with fine bitter lemon notes intermixed with peach skin and stem ginger that give the final third an additional dimension. Quite persistent, this is a very serious Chassagne that should age with style.$1,250.00 -

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet La Goujonne reveals aromas of plums, dark berries and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, taut and chalky palate that's a touch more structurally rustic than other recent vintages.$439.00 -
Vinous (89-91)
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet La Concis de Champs had wild variations in potential alcohol and acidity levels, caused by differing rootstocks, vine ages, pruning techniques, etc., that made it difficult for Olivier Lamy to pick. This has a bright red apple and lime bouquet that feels well defined. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and very pure. A lovely touch of bitter lemon enlivens and lends edge on the finish. Excellent.$1,320.00 -
(6x75cl) 2020Vinous (92)
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Concis de Champs has an expressive bouquet with orange blossom and mandarin notes, touches of peppermint emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with Granny Smith and a touch of peach skin, gently building towards the finish in possession of Premier Cru intensity. Excellent.$1,135.00 -

Aromas of pear, green apple, freshly baked bread and subtle hints of citrus blossom introduce the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Le Concis du Champs, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy wine with good depth and cut. This is a specially strong rendition of this bottling, produced from massal selections planted at 14,000 vines per hectare.$655.00 -

The 2020 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Haute Densité is a worthy follow-up to the stunning 2019. Wafting from the glass with aromas of lime zest, white flowers, crisp stone fruit, wet stones and youthful reduction, it's full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its satiny attack segueing into a layered, tightly wound mid-palate that's built around racy acids and chalky extract. Concluding with a long, resonant finish, this is one of the most exciting wines being produced in contemporary Burgundy.$7,120.00 -

As usual, there's only one barrel of the 2022 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Haute Densité, a glorious wine that will richly reward anyone able to attain a bottle—and to exercise the patience required to enjoy it at its best. Unwinding in the glass with notes of sweet orchard fruit, orange oil, oyster shell, freshly baked bread and wheat toast, it's full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a deep and multidimensional core of fruit, racy acids and a long, chalky finish. It's the king of the cellar, but it's also the most reserved wine in the range and really needs some time to show all its cards.$3,165.00 -

Vinous (90-92)
(still in barrel, unracked, with very low sulfur): Aromas of citrus fruits, licorice, menthol and spices. Seriously deep yet delineated village wine with a strong spice character despite the fact that there's no new oak here. Supple, pliant and vibrant but with its brisk fruit a bit suppressed. Finishes with a faint dry edge that may be due to a recent copper treatment. Should make a stunning village wine.$6,085.00 -

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Haut Densité has a fresh apple blossom, white tea and light chalky scents that gains intensity with aeration. The palate is very focused, with fine delineation and mineralité. It is tightly-wound towards the finish with a twist of bitter lemon lingering on the aftertaste.$1,225.00 -
Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
Part of the production of the 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots has been late released onto the market. Sea spray and light lemon rind notes unfold on the nose, later joined by a touch of green apple. The palate is fresh and well balanced with a tangy entry, fine depth and focus with a bitter lemon hint mixed with chamomile toward the finish. This is excellent.$284.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)
5 Star Wine. Clear bright colour, the nose is hyper-concentrated, a wealth of dense white fruit, which doesn’t speak so much of Puligny but this is a great wine. The concentration from the high density planting screams out loud at the back of the palate. Very long, and ultra-fine.$1,710.00 -

(1x150cl) 2022Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots includes the younger vines in the high-density section of the vineyard. It has a crisp, well-defined nose with petrichor and oyster shell scents, the latter becoming stronger with aeration. The palate is well balanced and mineral-driven, with that oyster shell element defining the finish. This is excellent.$385.00
