Fourrier
This small Burgundy Domaine has been producing some very well-regarded wines from its base in Gevrey-Chambertin. Producing wines in the region over four generations, there are few producers with as much regional expertise. The current vigneron, Jean-Marie Fourrier took over in 1994 after completing an internship with Henri Jayer, arguably the most legendary winemaker in modern Burgundy. There are hints of Jayer in the style and the wines are truly delicious.

At this point in our tasting, Fourrier told me that acidity levels at this domain were higher in 2007 than in 2005. |

Finishes ripely tannic and long; this should be a beauty with mid-term cellaring. |

Hints of black fruit emerge with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh opening. It's very elegant, quite Rousseau-like and fleshy toward the caressing finish. This is one of the best wines from Fourrier this year. |

While this is very elegant in style this year, it has more than enough substance to evolve in bottle for two decades or more. |
