James Suckling (95-96)Very pure character to this wine with crushed fruit and round tannins. It’s really transparent and delicate, yet bold at the same time. Super tannins. Vivid. Very primary and berry-like. May well turn out to be even better than this in bottle.

Jeb Dunnuck (97)The finest example of the château I've tasted, the 2022 Château Clerc Milon is deep purple-hued with a sensational perfume of crème de cassis, spring flowers, spicy oak, and graphite. It's full-bodied, concentrated, has a weightless mouthfeel, and beautiful tannins, all making for a riveting Pauillac. It needs a decade of bottle age to hit prime time, but this is another truly special 2022 that readers should pounce on.

Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (96)Pauillac was close to normal rainfall, with less mildew than other parts of the region, helping to usher in the excellent crop of wines that you will find in the appellation in 2023. This joins the best of them with its superb quality, and a real sense of excitement and drive. Expect vivacity and tension in the blue and black fruits, with liqourice root, squid ink, salted cracker, white pepper spice and freshly cut herbs. September 7 to 29 for harvest, 55% new oak barrels for ageing. Carmanère dating from 1947 is in this 1st wine, with the massal selection descendents in Pastourelle. Caroline Artaud director.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90)The 2015 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is a gorgeous second wine from Clerc-Milon. Forward and supple, the 2015 fleshes out in the glass with lovely density and volume. Ripe plum, blueberry, menthol and spice notes give the 2015 much of its seductive personality. Clerc-Milon releases the Pastourelle with some bottle age, when it is ready to drink, with the goal of arriving at a wine list in $100/bottle range. The 2015 is flat-out delicious. The blend is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89)The 2017 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is a plump, Merlot-driven Pauillac that will drink well in a few years, once the tannins have softened a bit. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, menthol, lavender and spice are nicely pushed forward in this attractive second wine from Clerc Milon. Pastourelle is released when the château believes it is ready to drink, so readers won't find it in the market for another few years.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89-91)The 2020 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is soft, supple and inviting, all of which will make it an absolute charmer when it is released in a few years' time. Sweet red cherry and plum fruit are pushed forward. As always, it’s Merlot-based; this vintage has a bit more Cabernet than usual, but that won't be an issue once in bottle. In the past, Pastourelle was shown en primeur, but sold only in bottle, a few years after the vintage, when the team deemed it ready to drink. This is the first vintage that will be offered as futures.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)The 2021 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is bold, fruity and delicious. Inky dark fruit, sweet spice, lavender and mocha are front and center. This charming, supple Pauillac will drink beautifully upon release. There's a bit more Merlot in this year's blend, and that really comes through in the wine' open-knit personality.

Jeb Dunnuck (93)Violets, cassis, ripe black cherries, and graphite all emerge from the 2022 Pastourelle De Clerc Milon, a ripe, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and lively second wine that has tons to love. As with the Grand Vin, it's undeniably one of the best examples of this cuvée to date. It will keep for two decades if well stored.
