The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys is powerful and also surprisingly tightly wound for the vintage. There is no shortage of power or mineral drive, that much is certain. If anything, the 2015 comes across as a bit compact. A spine of tannins give the wine its energy, expressive red stone fruit, pomegranate, red cherry and floral notes that start to emerge with time. Far from an easygoing 2015, the Fontenys is likely to require a bit of time to be at its very best.$885.00 -

Charles van Canneyt’s 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru is supple, silky and absolutely delicious. Sweet red cherry, plum, lavender and mint are beautifully layered in a creamy, expressive Gevrey 1er Cru that hits all the right notes. Pliant and wonderfully inviting, the Fontenys will drink beautifully pretty much out of the gate. Floral notes add a final kick of aromatic intensity on the close.$1,075.00 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru has a superb bouquet: beautifully defined and very pure, featuring a gorgeous rose petal note. The medium-bodied palate delivers supple tannins, fine acidity and a sorbet-fresh, persistent finish. Alongside the Cazetiers, this would be my pick from Charles Van Canneyt. Recommended.$1,480.00 -

Vinous (92-94)
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has an intense, powerful bouquet of red and black fruit and undergrowth; touches of menthol develop with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, good structure and matière, and saline on the midpalate, leading to a grippy, quite assertive finish. Good aging potential.$1,085.00 -

The 2018 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet of light honey, apricot and white flower aromas. The palate is fresh on the entry and quite saline, displaying good depth and persistence on the finish. Give it two or three years in bottle and you will probably end up with a charming Charmes.$699.00 -
