Burlotto
About Burlotto
Giovan Battista Burlotto founded his eponymous estate in 1850 and was among the first producers to sell Barolo in bottles rather than casks. Producing wines from vineyards that he owned, Burlotto found fame not just within Italy but also across the Atlantic, and found himself to be the official supplier of the Royal Family of Savoy, which once ruled Piedmont. The estate still remains in family hands and is currently managed by the 4th and 5th generations (Marina and her husband Giuseppe Alessandria, and their children Fabio and Cristina).

Pouring a youthful ruby red color, the 2023 Dolcetto D'Alba was fermented with the addition of 60% whole clusters in the fermentation, adding a pleasing lifted spice and refined chalkiness to the texture of the wine. It’s made in a fantastically fresh style reminiscent of high elevation Grenache and boasts notes of cracked pepper spice, mixed red and black raspberry fruit, cooling wet stones, and a floral perfume of wildflowers. The palate is snappy and ripe with an approachable feel, and it offers mouthwatering spice and a clean finish. Drink over the next 4-5 years.$214.00 -

The 2020 Pelaverga Verduno is light, airy and gracious. Crushed raspberry, mint and white pepper are nicely lifted in this ethereal Pelaverga. The personality of the year and a bit of hail yielded an unusually light Pelaverga, even within the context of this wine.$244.00 -
