Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a voluminous and extravagant bouquet with blooms of red berry fruit, although I found myself more drawn to the complex and intellectual Clos Saint-Denis. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. This is a masculine, assertive Clos de la Roche, quite saline in the mouth with a feisty, spicy finish. This is a fine grand cru from Louis Jadot, though not one of their top releases this vintage. |

Burghound (93-95)This is all but mute today and still notably primary as only aggressive swirling can coax the reluctant aromas of pear, honey, white peach, oak and floral scents to reveal themselves. In the same fashion as the nose, the big, opulent and ultra-intense broad-shouldered flavors also remain extremely backward and tight yet the palate staining finish is hugely persistent and already offers unusually fine complexity for a young Montrachet. This too is extremely impressive but note well that it's built-to-age and is going to need at least 5 to 7 years first. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2015 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very expressive bouquet that comes racing out of the traps: ebulliant morello cherries, crushed strawberry, rose petals and damson scents that are quite intoxicating even at this prenatal stage. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, tensile tannin, layers of crisp red cherry and raspberry fruit sprinkled with white pepper and clove. This builds nicely in the mouth and it fans out gloriously, whereas the Charmes-Chambertin remains recalcitrant and linear. This is superb. |

Vinous (88)The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a primal, simple bouquet that struggles to get past the honeyed fruit, the aromatics overwhelmed by the growing season. The palate is slightly honeyed on the entry with notes of mango, passion fruit and a touch of spice, suggesting that there might have been some botrytis in the vineyard. This is not unattractive but falls short of other Corton-Charlemagnes of this vintage. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 30 closure) |

Burgundy | 1 | 93 (VN) | $560.00
Vinous (93)Pale, bright lemon-yellow. Captivating aromas of pineapple, grilled almond, coconut, iodine and flint. Concentrated, chewy and uncompromisingly dry on entry, then turns a bit silkier in the middle, offering savory flavors of lemon drop, minerals, menthol, mint and hazelnut. Quite smooth in texture for such a powerful grand cru but still youthfully tight. The very long, subtle, slowly mounting finish saturates the palate with dusty extract. This remarkably tactile wine boasts outstanding potential. |

Burgundy | 1 | 90+ (VN) | $686.00
Vinous (90+)Healthy dark red. Pure but reticent nose offers scents of dark berries and licorice pastille; at once slightly liqueur-like and fresh. Rich, fine-grained and sweet, but a bit less fruity and stylish than the 2016 version. This is ultimately tighter and more powerful and built to age. Doesn't show the finesse of the 2016 version in the early going but avoids coming across as hard. |

Vinous (91)(the yield here was about 33 hectoliters per hectare, vs. an estate-wide average of 28 in 2015): Bright ruby-red. Subtle scents of boysenberry, blackberry, bitter chocolate and anise. Concentrated, tactile Beaune premier cru with layered dark berry flavors and lovely integrated sweetness. This very fine-grained, harmonious wine finishes with sweet dark fruits and suave tannins. This wine showed good power but a slight rusticity from barrel a year ago; it's more classy in its finished form. |

Burgundy | 4 | 91+ (VN) | $1,485.00
Vinous (91+)(10% vendange entier): Bright medium red. Fruitier on the nose but less complex than the Plantes, offering scents of cherry, raspberry and olive. Offers lovely sweetness and depth, as well as captivating inner-mouth perfume, but a bit less refined and smooth in the early going than the Plantes. Today this nicely balanced, energetic wine's tannins are a bit pronounced but the finish shows excellent juicy length. (Incidentally, Prune Amiot noted that this wine's tannins are often suaver than those of the Plantes but added that these wines change every day. |

Vinous (93-95)Medium red. Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, flowers and spices. Juicy on entry, then suave and light on its feet in the middle, with dense red berry flavors accented by white pepper, mint and flowers. This is a live wire in the mouth but it's also seamless and refined. The very subtle, slowly mounting finish displays a touch of medicinal bitterness that stimulates the salivary glands. Arlaud noted that his grand cru vineyards yielded 30 to 32 hectoliters per hectare in 2015, which he described as good for a dry year and better balanced as a result. The berries were small in 2015 but not nearly as tiny as those in 2003, when the same vineyards produced barely 20 hectoliters per hectare. |

Burgundy | 1 | 89-92 (VN) | $107.00
Vinous (89-92)Good dark red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, plum, chocolate and animal fur. Sweet, lush and mouthfilling, conveying an impression of almost chocolatey ripeness. In a very sweet stage right now but this village wine also possesses nicely integrated acidity and finishes with a fine dusting of tannins. The longest of these village wines, showing excellent lingering fruit. |

Burgundy | 1 | 98+ (VN) | $3,365.00
Vinous (98+)Bright medium red. Very pure but very reticent nose hints at blueberry, raspberry, licorice, game and woodsmoke. Delivers a compelling combination of fine-grained texture, deep sweetness and restrained power; still youthfully compressed but already boasts thrilling mouthfilling perfume of tart red fruits, spices and saline minerality. This spectacular Chambertin broadens out on the back half without giving any impression of weight. A wine of uncommon depth and class, with no sign of overripeness. With its salty, crushed-rock minerality, this wine saturates every square millimeter of the palate and stimulates the salivary glands on the sensationally long finish. |

Wine Advocate (97)The 2015 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is spectacular, wafting from the glass with a dramatic bouquet of sweet grilled meat, red and black fruit, candied peel and rich soil. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and powerful, with a lavishly gourmand attack that evokes the 2009 rendition, but this quickly segues into the mid-palate of an altogether more tautly structural, serious wine, its considerable dimension and concentration underwritten by racy acids. The finish is long and firm. This is a monumental Clos de Bèze built for the long haul. |

We found the wines in 2015 very easy and forward to taste, with as much focus on freshness as concentration, so there wasn’t a complete break from the 2014s in that sense. The hope is that as the wines mature they will continue to show the balance and classicism they displayed from the barrel. Our expectation is that they will do so and the best wines will live for a very long time with a genuinely satisfying pattern of maturation throughout their life.
