Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2020 Les Perrières de Lafleur is more backward than the 2019 with blackberry and light estuarine scents plus a dab of shucked oyster shell in the background. The palate is beautifully balanced, gentle but firm in terms of grip, with wonderful poise and density on the finish. This will probably require longer in bottle than the previous vintage, but it will reward the patient. Tasted from ex-château magnum at Kate & Kon's 40-Year vertical in Austria.

James Suckling (94-95)Very fine, well integrated tannins with blackberry, dark chocolate and blackcurrant. It’s full and extremely racy. One of the finest second wines.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-93)The 2020 Lespault-Martillac is plump, juicy and wonderfully expressive. Ripe red cherry/red plum, orange zest cinnamon and crushed flowers fill out the layers in a succulent, vibrant Lespault that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2020 is a wine of total allure.

Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)The 2020 Lestage Simon has good intensity on the nose, featuring cedar- and tobacco-infused black fruit that displays commendable intensity and delineation. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannins and crisp acidity. Very classic in style, with a grippy, slightly oaky finish. There is a boldness to this Haut-Médoc that I appreciate, but cellar it for 3-4 years.

Jeb Dunnuck (92-94)This estate continues to deliver the goods, and the 2020 Château Lilian Ladouys is another smoking wine readers will love. Lots of ripe black fruits, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and damp earth give way to a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, textured, beautifully balanced red that will drink well for 20 years or more.

Vinous - Neal Martin (89-91)The 2020 Lions de Batailley has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, cedar and light cigar box aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with graphite tinged black fruit on the entry, fine weight, quite sweet towards the finish whilst retaining Pauillac-like structure. This is a thoroughly decent Deuxième Vin.

James Suckling (99)A beautifully layered red with blackcurrant, hazelnut and lead-pencil character and fine, velvety tannins. Full-bodied and reserved. It’s like a tightly knit ball of polished tannins that are cashmere in texture. So very long and impressive. Give this time. A terrific Lynch. Better after 2027.
