The 2010 Château Palmer offers a beautiful nose (it reminds me of the 2022, surprisingly) with darker black and blue fruits, violets, saddle leather, and incense notes, as well as a concentrated, rich, full-bodied style on the palate. It stays focused and pure, with beautiful tannins, a complex, layered texture, and a ripe, sexy profile that’s already impossible to resist. I might give the nod to the 2009 here, but this is a riveting Palmer that has so much to love. Drink bottles any time over the coming 3-4 decades. Drink 2025-2065.$2,225.00 -

Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Pape Clement comes wafting sensuously from the glass with fragrant notions of dried roses, Chinese five spice and sandalwood over a core of kirsch, warm cassis and plum preserves plus a touch of cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is finely crafted with a firm line of ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the perfumed fruit through the incredibly long finish.$2,545.00 -

Checking in as 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2010 Château Pavie is an absolute dream of a wine from the team of Perse and one of the more consistent 100-point wines I've encountered. Its still-youthful plum/purple hue is followed by a blockbuster array of sweet dark fruits, white truffle, leafy tobacco, and cedar pencil on the nose. On the palate, it has classic Pavie power and richness, as with all great wines, it remains weightless and seamless, with a multi-dimensional mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It clearly offers pleasure today and is in the early stages of its prime drinking window, and it's going to continue evolving gracefully over the coming 25+ years. Drink 2026-2055.$4,485.00 -

From a great, great vintage for all of Bordeaux, the 2010 Pavie Decesse is based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that emerges from a vineyard sitting just above Chateau Pavie and was raised in new French oak. This inky beauty is still a baby yet offers incredible opulence in its huge nose of blackcurrants, blueberries, scorched earth, woodsmoke, chocolate, and graphite. With a distinct sense of minerality, full-bodied richness, building tannins, good acidity, and a monster of a finish, it is accessible today in a youthful sense yet needs another decade at a minimum to approach maturity. It will be a 50-60+ year wine.$953.00 -

Starting to show just a hint of maturity and evolution, the 2010 Château Pavie Macquin is still ruby/plum-hued with a complex nose of ripe red and black cherries, chalky minerality, damp earth, and white truffles. These carry to a wonderfully pure, medium to full-bodied Pavie Macquin offering tons of minerality, a layered, elegant mouthfeel, good acidity, and one hell of a great finish. Drink this complex, satisfying, layered wine over the coming two decades. Drink 2025-2045.$1,485.00 -

I love the density and lemon rind character with hints of pear, melons and chalk. Full body, with layers of fruit with flavors of lemon meringue, honey and pears. Long, long finish. Beautiful fruit. Drink or hold.$1,945.00 -
(12x75cl) 2010The 2nd wine of the infamous Chateau Margaux, its first official vintage was in 1906 and is one of the oldest 2nd wines. The 2010 is powerful, full bodied with great depth. It has aromas of black fruit, forest floor and a touch of spice. This has good ageing potential.$2,020.00 -

An absolutely prodigious, massively concentrated Saint-Emilion is the 2010 Peby Faugeres, which is 100% old vine Merlot, from a single parcel of south-facing limestone soils, brought up all in new oak. This beauty’s deep purple, almost blue, color is followed by a dense, backward bouquet of black and blue fruits, scorched earth, graphite, chocolatey oak, and an incredible minerality. More backward, dense, and brooding compared to the sexy 2009, hide bottle for another 3-4 years and enjoy over the following 20-25 years. It’s an awesome wine.$2,815.00 -

Always an exuberant, richly fruity wine that shows classic Bordeaux hallmarks, this blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot has plenty of black fruits, truffle, graphite and licorice as well as sweet tannins in a medium-bodied, richly fruity, glycerin-endowed style that makes for a very seductive wine meant to be drunk over the next 7-8 years.$334.00 -

93-95 With its dark concentration of flavors, this is hugely dense, very ripe and juicy. There is a fruit salad of rich berries here, powerful, finished with some tough, dry tannins.$1,300.00 -

Deep garnet colored, the 2010 Petrus opens a little broody, with gentle crushed rocks, cast iron pan and fragrant earth notions giving way to a core plum preserves, baked blueberries, licorice and Black Forest cake plus wafts of pencil shavings, garrigue and violets. Full-bodied, the palate is beautifully poised with a firm line of exquisitely ripe, fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness bolstering the generous fruit, finishing very long and very, very classy. Collectors fortunate enough to have a few bottles of this vintage are advised to be patient and allow it a further 7-10 years to loosen-up and emerge gloriously from this rock-solid structure.$4,220.00 -

Rocking stuff that continues to show well, the 2010 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron bursts from the glass with ripe, darker currants, spice, leather, and cedar pencil notes. Full-bodied and layered on the palate, it’s incredibly concentrated and powerful, with beautiful overall balance. It's a complete, satisfying, textbook Pauillac that has so much to love. Count yourself lucky if you have bottles in the cellar. Give it a solid decant if drinking any time soon, and it will keep for another 30+ years. Drink 2025-2055.$2,090.00 -

Silky, sweet black fruit, black olive and truffle notes from the start. This is majestically impressive - it sparks to life in your mouth and breaks out an involuntary smile. The texture is just liquid silk and it slowly but surely builds through the palate, gaining in confidence and totally delightful. Bright, vibrant tannins make the most of the high levels of acidity that were available in 2010, while matching them pace for pace with concentrated fruit. For me this is getting better as it ages, starting to rival the 1982 at Comtesse, and I can't wait to keep tasting it over the decades to come. Last time I rated this wine, in 2016, I gave it 98 points, and I questioned whether to keep it there, which is already an exceptional score, but I want to mark just how clearly it stood out in this horizontal. 60% new oak.$2,680.00 -

Dark ruby-red. Enticing aromas of ripe red cherry, minerals and smoke. Nicely concentrated and balanced, with harmonious acidity giving clarity and cut to the red fruit and mineral flavors. Finishes with polished tannins and good length. Yet another notable success from Pessac-Leognan in 2010.$192.00
